Welcome to Gainesville Bird Control: Prevention and Removal of Unwanted Birds

Our company specializes in resolving problems caused by birds in Gainesville, Florida, both residential and commerical. We handle bird species such as pigeons, starlings, grackles, sparros, and even Canada Geese and woodpeckers. We generally don't kill birds - we prevent them from causing problems. Most commonly, this means that we install barriers that prevent them access to your building or property, or anti-roosting devices that prevent them from landing, nesting, or roosting on your home, store, building, or anywhere. We use netting, needle strips, shock track, and more. We do offer trapping in some cases, and removal of birds from warehouses, grocery stores, or other commerical or industrial buildings by netting or sometimes pellet shooting. We have a wide variety of tools and methods for solving every manner of bird problem. Call us at 352-278-9213 to discuss your bird problem today.

1

Netting

Stop Birds From Accessing Your Space

We stop birds from entering almost any space by installing netting. It is strong and durable, but thin and black so that it is not visually distracting. We can prevent birds from flying or roosting under awnings, roofs, or any other architectural area.

2

Anti-Roosting

Stop Birds From Landing Or Roosting

We install needle strips or shock track on ledges, beams, the tops of signs, and anywhere birds are roosting and causing unsightly and unhealthy droppings. We can reach any area with our ladders and boom lifts.

3

Cleanup

We Clean Droppings and Nesting Material

Birds can make a mess with their droppings - on your building, roof, or the ground, or any other area. Sometimes bird guano and nesting material accumulate. We professionally clean and decontaminate the area.

Amazing Facts About Pigeons That'll Help You Get Rid of Them

Pigeons are thought of as dumb animals. They've been given a string of names, too. Vermin of the sky. Flying rats. Air rodents. Okay, so we made that last one up, but the things said about pigeons are often derogatory ... and sometimes not even true.

It is true that pigeons are "dirty" animals. They are capable of spreading some pretty horrific diseases, none of which you'd want having a party right in your own backyard. With mites and other disease-ridden bugs coming along for the ride, you would be right to want to keep these flying pests as far away from your pets as possible, too. And any other animals that you may have on your property — chickens, goats, rabbits, etc.

It isn't true that pigeons are dumb. Quite the opposite, actually. Experts have performed a number of experiments on these birds, and they've shown to have an astounding range of skills that far exceeded what we assumed they could be capable of. Pigeons can tell the difference between one photo and another. Not just that, pigeons can tell the difference between a person in one photograph and then a different person in a different photograph. The birds have also been studied recognising every single letter of the alphabet — all 26 of them. It gets better — they are also apparently capable of recognising their own reflection in a mirror. At present, only one NON-MAMMAL is capable of this — the pigeon. There are only five other animals that can do it, all mammals.

It is true that pigeons can fly at almost eighty miles an hour. That's their average speed — somewhere between seventy and eight miles an hour. Some species of pigeon have been recorded flying at speeds in excess of 90mph, which is, once again, absolutely staggering. It is also true that pigeons can fly ridiculously high — over six thousand feet in some studies. Just to put that into a little perspective, the Trident Volcano in Alaska sits at 6,115 feet above sea level.

It isn't true that you can relocate this bird. The longest flight path ever recorded for pigeons was a journey between Africa and Europe — England, to be exact, and it took a whopping 55 days for the entire journey. The flock of birds covered more than seven thousand miles. It has been suggested that the average daily flight path for a pigeon could cover over seven or eight hundred miles. You definitely wouldn't be able to trap this one and then relocate it somewhere else as you would with a raccoon or similar.

Pigeons really are remarkable animals for something that we consider to be a pest, and they are definitely not a bird that you will want to take too lightly. With a number of disease threats attached to them, and a considerable amount of repair work in terms of cost, it's definitely the kind of pest that you'll want to deal with properly, quickly, and in the safest way possible — for you and the animal(s) involved.
